Former Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, who had resigned from the BRS party, has joined the Congress party. This happened at an event in Hyderabad, where AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and other top Congress leaders were present.
Tummala had been silent after being denied a ticket to contest from the Palair constituency by the BRS party. However, he openly stated that he will be running for the Palair Assembly in the upcoming elections. He was invited by Congress leaders and officially welcomed into the party. After a month of contemplating his decision, Tummala finally joined the Congress party on Saturday.
His joining the party comes just before important meetings of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and a public meeting by Sonia Gandhi in Hyderabad. Tummala’s inclusion has strengthened the Congress party in the state. He is a senior politician who has previously served as a Minister in both the NTR and Chandrababu Naidu governments in united Andhra Pradesh. He has also worked closely with CM KCR and served as a Minister in his cabinet in Telangana State. Tummala has a strong following in the state, particularly in the Khammam district.
