The Congress party in Telangana is getting ready to finalize its candidates for the MLC seats under the MLA quota. Senior leaders from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) recently held discussions with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Uttam Kumar Reddy about the selection process.
A key Zoom meeting was held with Telangana Congress leaders, led by party in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan. She is expected to prepare a report and submit it to the party’s high command soon.
As part of its political strategy, Congress is likely to give one MLC seat to the Communist Party of India (CPI). For the remaining three seats, the party is considering a fair representation of different social groups. One seat may be given to a candidate from the Scheduled Castes (SC), another to a Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidate, and the third seat could go to either a Backward Class (BC) or an Open Category (OC) candidate.
The Congress leadership wants to ensure a balance between social representation and political alliances. A final decision from the party’s high command is expected soon.
