Palvai Sravanthi, a Congress leader and the candidate for the Munugode Assembly constituency’s 2022 bypoll, has resigned from the party. She will be joining the BRS soon.
Sravanthi, the daughter of former MP and five-time MLA Palvai Govardhan Reddy, was a top contender for the Munugode constituency. However, she lost in the 2022 bypoll. The decision to give the ticket to former MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, who returned to the Congress from BJP, has caused dissatisfaction within the party. Unable to bear the pain, Sravanthi decided to leave the party and sent a letter to party leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. She criticized the party for disregarding the Udaipur declaration and prioritizing money and fake surveys in ticket allocation.
In addition, K Manavatha Roy, a ticket aspirant for Sathupalli and a leader of Congress’s Unemployed JAC, also joined the BRS on Friday. He questioned the party’s decision to give the ticket to another candidate and claimed that the party had neglected the youth who had fought for Telangana.
