Congress High Command Concerned Over Telangana Leaders' Silence

The Congress high command is reportedly upset with Telangana’s Ministers, MPs, MLAs, and senior leaders for not actively defending Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy against opposition attacks. Concerns have been raised over their lack of response on key issues where the Chief Minister and the state government have been targeted.

Party sources revealed that the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has been investigating why these leaders are not stepping up. They are questioning the “irresponsible” attitude of many leaders when controversies arise. Recent incidents, such as the Lagacharla issue, the implementation of the Rythu Bharosa scheme, the Allu Arjun episode, allegations against BRS leader KT Rama Rao in an ACB case, and food poisoning cases in government-run schools, have sparked intense clashes between the ruling Congress and the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Despite these controversies, only a handful of Congress leaders, like Bhongir MP Ch. Kiran Kumar Reddy and a few other ministers, have been seen countering the opposition’s allegations. They have occasionally addressed press conferences at the TPCC headquarters and CLP office. In contrast, during the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s regime in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Congress ministers had a unified approach. They aggressively defended the government and attacked the opposition, holding multiple press conferences to counter the opposition’s allegations. Similarly, during the BRS tenure, its leaders consistently countered BJP and Congress accusations to maintain an upper hand.

Currently, the political situation in Telangana appears different. Congress leaders are not as vocal in defending the government, leaving the Chief Minister to handle opposition attacks largely on his own. For instance, in the Formula E race controversy, Congress ministers and leaders failed to come forward to support the CM or challenge the BRS’s aggressive political strategies.

AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal has reportedly questioned senior Congress leaders about the silence of the Ministers and their lack of action in defending the government on crucial matters. Sources suggest the Congress high command is taking this issue seriously and may address the reluctance of its leaders to support the Chief Minister in future political battles.
