Less than two weeks before Phase-VI of Lok Sabha elections in Telangana, the Congress party is reaching out to various groups and associations, such as farmers, women, disabled individuals, and different castes and religious groups. This is part of their strategy to engage with the community and promote their promises from the Manifesto.
The State Congress leadership is focusing on two main approaches. They are working to set a narrative that the BJP would eliminate reservation policies through public meetings and by connecting with different groups. Recently, the Congress held a gathering of the Golla Kuruma caste, where leaders assured support for the community and the establishment of the Golla Kurma Corporation.
In alignment with their Manifesto, the Congress is emphasizing the low representation of OBC, SC, and ST communities in high-ranking professions, services, and businesses despite making up 70% of India’s population. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is warning that the BJP may eliminate reservation policies entirely if they come to power, while the Congress plans to conduct a nationwide Socio-Economic and Caste Census to inform affirmative action initiatives.
On Sunday, Chevella MP G Ranjith Reddy highlighted the Congress’s commitment to recognizing and supporting different sections of society, including the disabled. He assured that promises from the Manifesto, such as expanding anti-discrimination laws and recognizing Braille script and Sign Language as languages, will be implemented.
The Election Management Committee aims to engage with multiple groups in each constituency through district-wise meetings and reviews to promote Manifesto promises. Frontal organizations like NSUI, Mahila Congress, and Youth Congress will also convey the party’s message through door-to-door campaigns, meetings with leaders, and presentations to mobilize support for the Congress among voters.
