The Congress party successfully passed a no confidence motion against Kamareddy municipal chairperson Nittu Jahnavi, leading to the removal of the BRS party from the chairperson’s post. Congress councilor Gaddam Indupriya has been elected as the new in-charge chairperson.
The Congress party initiated the no confidence motion after BRS party councillors rebelled against their own chairman, Jahnavi. Nine BRS councillors supported the Congress party, and out of the 49 councillors, 27 supported the motion. With only 16 members left, the BRS party faced a setback due to the rebellion of 9 BRS councillors.
Six BJP councillors were absent during the vote of no confidence. Following the motion, BRS representatives who supported it joined the Congress party.
After the motion was passed, Municipal Councilors met with former minister and advisor to the Telangana Government, Mohammed Ali Shabbir. Shabbir Ali highlighted accusations of corruption and irregularities against BRS leaders from opposition parties and even BRS party councillors. He announced that the Congress party aims to provide corruption-free governance in Kamareddy town.
Shabbir Ali also mentioned that the Congress party had requested Rs 50 crores from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for the development of Kamareddy town, which was positively responded to. He criticized the KCR government for not providing compensation for crop damage and highlighted various corruption allegations against KCR’s family members.
He assured farmers who suffered crop losses that the government would compensate them and highlighted the Congress party’s efforts in implementing election guarantees. Kamareddy District DCC President Kailas Srinivasa Rao and other Congress leaders were also present at the meeting.
