Congress Challenges KTR for Open Debate on Crop Loan Waiver

The Congress party has called out BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) for an open debate regarding the crop loan waiver scheme. This challenge comes after KTR’s comments during the Rythu Maha Dharna event in Shabad on January 17. Congress leaders, including Chief Whip in Council Patnam Mahender Reddy, Pargi MLA T Ram Mohan Reddy, and Tandur MLA B Manohar Reddy, have criticized KTR’s statements, claiming they are misleading.

According to the Congress leaders, KTR is unable to accept the success of the crop loan waiver scheme, which they say has benefitted all eligible farmers. They accused him of making false claims for political gain. Pargi MLA T Ram Mohan Reddy openly challenged KTR to a debate, stating, “If the Congress government’s claims are proven wrong, I am ready to resign as an MLA.”

The Congress legislators acknowledged that a few farmers might have been left out due to technical reasons, such as data mismatches or issues with Aadhar verification. However, they assured that these problems are being addressed. “BRS thrives on conspiracy theories and cannot substantiate their allegations,” said T Ram Mohan Reddy, emphasizing that the Congress government stands by its record on the issue.

The challenge has now added a new dimension to the ongoing political rivalry between the two parties, with the Congress asserting its commitment to resolving any remaining issues under the crop loan waiver scheme.
