The Congress party and the Union government are having a disagreement over permission to hold the Telangana Liberation/ Integration Day programs at Parade Grounds on September 17. The Telangana PCC president, A Revanth Reddy, has requested permission from the Defense ministry to hold a public meeting attended by top party leaders on the Liberation Day. He claims that Union Minister G Kishan Reddy is obstructing the Defense ministry from granting permission because he plans to hold an official program on the same day at the ground. The BJP has already announced a public meeting in Warangal to honor the Telangana martyrs on the Liberation Day. Revanth believes that Reddy is intentionally planning another program at Parade Grounds to prevent the Congress from holding their celebrations. The TPCC has also sent a letter to the Defense ministry, and if permission is denied, they have requested the State government’s permission to hold the meeting at LB Stadium.
