The Congress party is struggling with funds as the campaign nears its end. Candidates are tightly controlling their money and not receiving proper support from the party, which is affecting the campaign on the ground. While candidates with a good financial background are spending at least Rs 10 crore on the Assembly polls, those with limited resources are afraid to spend and not getting support from the party.
There are reports that neighbouring Karnataka is supporting the Congress, but this is not true. A former AICC member stated that there is no support from the party when it comes to funds.
The election management in Telangana by the Congress has raised interest among political circles. Party aspirants who lost out to candidates with better financial backgrounds allege that money played a role in candidate selection. The responsibility of raising campaign funds should have been taken by top state leaders, but this did not happen.
The campaign, which should have been led by local leadership, has shifted to AICC leaders. The AICC engaged leaders from Karnataka and Maharashtra, as well as Rahul Gandhi, to keep the party’s momentum going. Even social media is being handled by individuals from other states.
K C Venu Gopal, who expressed concern about the situation, is personally reviewing the ground situation by visiting and meeting candidates across the state. He has also spoken to other leaders to gather first-hand information.
