The Congress and the BJP are in a heated debate over the Telangana State government’s promises and the lack of support from the Central government. BJP leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy criticized the Congress government for not implementing its schemes properly. On the other hand, Congress leaders blamed the Centre for not providing enough support for major projects.
During the Assembly session, Maheshwar Reddy reminded the ruling party of its election promises. He claimed that schemes like the loan waiver had not benefited all farmers. He also accused the government of blaming the previous BRS regime for the State’s financial problems. He challenged the Congress to dissolve the Assembly and seek a fresh mandate if they believed they still had public support.
In response, Legislative Affairs Minister S Sridhar Babu defended the Congress government. He said they were ready for a debate and would present financial details in the session. He assured that the loan waiver scheme had reached all farmers, including those in Reddy’s constituency of Nirmal. He also claimed that Congress had achieved more in 14 months than other governments, including the BJP’s ally in Andhra Pradesh.
During the discussion, Minister Ponnam urged the BJP to push the Union government for more financial support. He argued that the Centre’s lack of cooperation had stalled Telangana’s projects. He also criticized the previous BRS government for not demanding funds from the Centre, which he believed had slowed the State’s progress. Ponnam challenged the BJP to prove its commitment to Telangana by securing more funds from the Union government.
