Hyderabad: Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, has criticized the Congress party for engaging in what he calls “time-pass politics” through the caste census survey.
On Sunday, he accused the Congress party of staging a drama to delay local body elections. Sanjay pointed out that the previous BRS government had already collected detailed data, including caste information, through a comprehensive family survey. He questioned why that report had not been made public, asking, “Why conduct a new caste census when a comprehensive family survey already exists?”
He further alleged that people are unhappy with the Congress party over issues like the implementation of the six guarantees and loan waivers. According to Sanjay, Congress is resorting to “time-pass politics” with the caste census because they are afraid of losing if elections are held now.
Sanjay also criticized the state’s approach to the caste census, calling it insincere and accusing the Congress of deliberately delaying local body elections. He questioned the secrecy surrounding the comprehensive family survey conducted by the previous BRS government. “Where is the report? Why didn’t the BRS reveal it? Why isn’t the Congress government making it public either?” he asked. He even speculated that there might be a secret deal between Congress and BRS to hide the report.
Sanjay also raised concerns about the need for a new caste census survey, especially after Rs 150 crore was allocated for it, despite the existence of the earlier survey. “Did the caste of Telangana people change between the SKS report and now?” he questioned, suggesting that Congress leaders are using the caste census as a distraction because they fear losing the upcoming elections.
He concluded by challenging the Congress government to release the comprehensive family survey report if they were truly sincere about the caste census.
