Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has raised concerns about the Telangana government’s efforts to make the state drug-free. He questioned whether the government is truly committed to this cause.
On Sunday, the Karimnagar MP asked why the family members of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) were spared during the Janawada farmhouse raids. He questioned if allowing them to escape scrutiny aligns with the government’s promise to tackle the drug problem in the state.
Bandi Sanjay alleged that there are attempts to weaken the case surrounding the rave party incident at the Janawada farmhouse, which reportedly belongs to a relative of former state minister KT Rama Rao. He demanded that CCTV footage from the party be made public and called for a thorough investigation.
He emphasized that the drug problem is a serious social issue and should be dealt with strictly. “No one involved in the crime should be spared,” he insisted.
There are also claims that the police are under pressure, possibly from Congress, to downplay the incident. It is alleged that the police are being pushed to present the party as one where only liquor was consumed, with no trace of drug use. Reports suggest that the panchanama (official report) may only mention the seizure of foreign liquor bottles, omitting any reference to drugs.
Bandi Sanjay further alleged that a conspiracy is being planned to shield KCR’s family members, while random individuals may be falsely implicated. He urged the government to use mobile tower data to identify everyone who attended the rave party if it is truly serious about addressing the issue.
The MP accused the Congress-led state government of trying to dilute the case, similar to what he claims happened in previous controversies such as phone tapping, the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), and various scams. He also alleged that important documents were removed from the Janawada farmhouse and moved to start hotels, questioning why the Congress government is silent on this matter.
Bandi Sanjay called for drug tests on KCR’s family members and demanded that the names of the 35 people who allegedly attended the rave party be revealed.
Lastly, the Union Minister challenged the Congress and BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) to prove they are not collaborating by placing all the details of the incident before the public.
