Tribal leaders in Adilabad district have raised concerns about illegal encroachments on forest and government lands. They have submitted complaints to officials, urging action against those responsible.

In the outskirts of Ichoda, some influential individuals are accused of occupying government land in survey number 118 and creating an illegal layout. Additionally, 3.03 acres of government land in survey number 120/1/1 have reportedly been encroached upon. In survey number 120/1/3, land meant for a government school or college has been taken over, and a hotel has been built on it.

Recently, tribal leaders approached Tehsildar Satyanarayana to report these violations. On Monday, they also submitted complaints to Additional Collector Shyamala Devi, requesting strict monitoring of the affected lands. They claimed that laws were violated by setting up illegal layouts and constructing buildings without government approval. They urged officials to file criminal cases against the encroachers, remove illegal structures, and reclaim the occupied land.

Villagers and tribal leaders formally submitted a petition to the Additional Collector, demanding action against these illegal layouts. In response, the Additional Collector instructed the village panchayat secretary to take immediate and strict action.

Meanwhile, in Ichoda’s scheduled village panchayat area, survey number 82, land near the Ayyappa temple has reportedly been turned into a multi-venture, with illegal gravel roads built on tribal land. The complainants have requested that construction work be stopped and the land returned to its rightful owners.

They also pointed out that they had previously lodged a complaint with the Ichoda village panchayat secretary on February 12 about illegal layouts on survey numbers 83, 98, and 118, but no action had been taken. Their earlier complaint included photographic evidence and details of unauthorized layouts, such as survey number 98 behind MJP Boys School and survey number 118 near the bus stand and the road leading to Gubba. They urged authorities to take swift action to reclaim the occupied plots.

The issue of illegal land encroachments in agency areas has resurfaced. Authorities continue to warn the public against purchasing plots in unauthorized ventures and advise them to buy only in DTCP-approved layouts.
