Residents and commuters in Bachupally are once again facing health and safety concerns due to the poor condition of roads along the Bachupally-Nizampet stretch in Hyderabad. The roads have not been repaired for over a decade, and recent rains have made the situation worse, forcing people to find alternative routes.
Locals have noted that the entire stretch has become dangerous for travelers, with several fatal accidents reported. Despite protests from residents, the Nizampet Municipal Corporation has not taken any action. Potholes are scattered throughout the stretch, making travel during the monsoon season a nightmare.
Residents have engaged in protests and filed Right to Information (RTI) requests in the past two years, but their efforts have been ignored. Filling potholes with sand temporarily is not enough, and residents are calling for a permanent solution through re-carpeting the road. Srinivas, a resident of Nizampet, expressed frustration at the lack of action from officials.
Some residents, like social activist Sai Teja, have criticized authorities for neglecting the main road in favor of constructing internal roads. This neglect has turned the stretch into a hazard, causing severe injuries to road users. Authorities had promised to re-carpet the road last year, but it seems to have been an empty promise, according to residents.
