Adilabad: A special health programme called ‘Aarogya Pathashala’ (Health School), started by Adilabad District Officer Rajarshi Shah, has earned national recognition. This programme began on Children’s Day and is the first of its kind in the state. It was honoured with the SKOCH Award for its success. On Saturday, Rajarshi Shah received the award in Delhi from Padma Shri Dr. Deepak B Pathak and Dr. Gursharan Dhanjal, Vice Chairman of the SKOCH Group.
The main aim of Aarogya Pathashala is to teach students about six key areas of health. The programme has already made a big difference in the way students live and take care of themselves. Under Shah’s leadership, the programme has been successfully carried out in schools across the district.
The programme helps students learn how to stay healthy, avoid diseases, and build confidence and social skills. It is run in high schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), and intermediate colleges. For four weeks, students take part in weekly sessions, with a different health topic each day. These topics include personal hygiene, nutrition, stress management, staying away from drugs, preventing seasonal illnesses, and personality development.
Thanks to Aarogya Pathashala, students are learning good habits, avoiding harmful addictions like alcohol and tobacco, and focusing on their health and studies. The programme is helping them become successful and inspiring role models for the future.
