The District Election Officer and Collector VP Gautham visited Sri Chaitanya Engineering College in Ponnekal to check arrangements for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He was accompanied by Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt and inspected the counting, strong room, and reception centre setups.
Instructions were given to officials regarding the organisation of strong rooms and counting rooms for the seven segments within the Khammam Parliament Constituency. Special attention was paid to the newly designated second floor for strong rooms to ensure security.
Contingency plans were discussed to address potential electricity-related issues during the summer season, with a recommendation to reuse fencing materials from previous elections. Specific plans for setting up rooms dedicated to assembly segments and postal ballots were outlined.
MPDOs were assigned to oversee election-related arrangements in their areas, focusing on centralised reception centre coordination and route management. Rainproof tents were to be set up, and staff handling EVMs were asked to use colour-coded identification.
Officials present at the review meeting included Khammam Municipal Corporation Commissioner Adarsh Surabhi, Additional Collector D Madhusudan Naik, Training Assistant Collectors Mayank Singh and Yuvraj, and Training IPS P Maunika.
