Ahead of the monsoon season, the Ranga Reddy district administration is preparing to tackle water shortages, especially in areas that do not receive regular supply. To ensure officials take action in advance, Collector C. Narayan Reddy held a meeting on Friday. He instructed Mission Bhagiratha officials to take necessary steps to prevent water scarcity in the summer.
During the meeting, the collector reviewed the water supply situation in different divisions. He checked on storage facilities, settlements, and pending projects under Mission Bhagiratha, which aims to expand water supply to new areas. He emphasized the need to identify and solve water shortage problems before summer. He also directed officials to repair pumps, motors, valves, and leaking pipes immediately to avoid wastage and ensure a continuous water supply.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of completing the construction of overhead water tanks in villages. These tanks are essential to ensure uninterrupted water supply to residential areas during the hot months. Officials were also asked to visit villages whenever they receive complaints about water shortages or leakages and to carry out repairs without delay.
The meeting was held as reports suggested that many overhead tanks and storage facilities were still under construction in several divisions. There were also concerns about leaks in supply lines. Since the demand for water increases during summer, officials are now working to resolve these issues quickly.
Several areas in the district have not yet been covered under the Mission Bhagiratha programme, which aims to provide safe drinking water to people in underserved regions. With the summer season approaching, officials are making efforts to address water scarcity and improve supply to all areas.
