Doctors and medical staff at RIMS Hospital have been urged to take the lead in providing better medical services to patients, especially those from poor backgrounds.
A review meeting was held at RIMS Medical College, chaired by the RIMS director. Professors and assistant professors from all departments attended the meeting.
During the discussion, District Collector Rajarshi Shah emphasized that most patients visiting RIMS Hospital come from economically weaker sections. He urged doctors to prioritize their needs. He also stressed that all types of deliveries should be handled in the gynecology department without referring patients elsewhere. Additionally, he instructed officials to encourage pregnant women to choose government hospitals, including RIMS, for their deliveries instead of private hospitals. Special attention was also given to conducting tubectomy procedures for women who need them.
The Collector spoke with professors from different departments to understand their challenges. He reminded them that patient care staff are available to assist patients and encouraged the use of these services when needed. He also advised professors to focus on diagnostic services such as X-rays, ECGs, scans, blood tests, and other medical examinations.
During the meeting, the Collector inquired about vacancies in the nursing college. The principal informed him that applications for MSc Nursing had been submitted this year and that eight staff nurses had been hired as teaching faculty. The Collector also sought details about the duties of Resident Medical Officers (RMOs). He mentioned that the government has increased the Aarogyasri health insurance coverage from five to ten lakh rupees and asked officials to ensure proper implementation of the scheme.
The meeting was attended by RIMS Director Jai Singh Rathod, District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Narendra Rathod, hospital superintendents Dr. Ashok, Dr. Satyanarayana, and other officials.
