The District Collector of Mahbubnagar, G Ravi Naik, has recently directed the tahsildars to issue caste and income certificates to eligible students within two days in order to facilitate their pre-matric scholarships. The district has around 11,500 SC and ST students who are eligible for the scholarship, but only 7,000 have applied so far. The remaining students have not applied due to lack of various certificates and bank accounts not being opened. The district authorities are responsible for ensuring that all eligible students apply for the scholarship within the given timeframe.

In a teleconference held on Saturday, the Collector instructed special officers of mandals, tehsildars, MEOs, and officials of welfare departments to take this matter as the first priority and grant scholarships to students. He also ordered tehsildars to issue instructions to 1,100 students who require caste and income certificates on Saturday and Sunday. The details of students without these certificates should be submitted to him immediately.

Out of the 7,120 students who applied for scholarships, only 473 bank accounts have been opened. The LDM and bank managers have been instructed to take steps to open bank accounts for those who need them on Mondays and Tuesdays under any circumstances.

The Collector emphasized that the authorities should give top priority to this matter as the financial year will end in four days. He also mentioned that 108 more students need to apply for the scholarship out of 2,678 scheduled tribe students. The teleconference was attended by District Education Officer Yadaiah, LDM Bhaskar, District Tribal Welfare Officer Chatru Naik, Social Welfare In charge DD Pandu, MEOs, and Tehsildars.
