Nagar Kurnool District Collector, Badavath Santosh, visited the paddy procurement center in Sirisavada village, Tadoor Mandal, on Thursday. During his visit, he inspected the paddy received from farmers and checked the quantity of paddy collected so far. He also reviewed the facilities provided at the center for the convenience of farmers.
The Collector spoke with the farmers to understand if they were facing any issues at the procurement centers. He instructed the officials to provide tarpaulins at the centers to ensure smooth operations. He emphasized that all necessary infrastructure must be in place so that farmers do not face any inconvenience.
Badavath Santosh highlighted the importance of coordination between different departments to ensure the paddy procurement process runs efficiently. He instructed that the paddy should be weighed immediately after it arrives, loaded onto trucks, and transported to the designated rice mills without delay. He also stressed that continuous monitoring is necessary to ensure smooth unloading at the mills.
The Collector informed that 253 paddy procurement centers have been established across the district. He explained that separate centers have been set up for different paddy varieties, such as Sanna and Doddalu, and the transportation of paddy from the centers to the mills has been sped up.
To ensure that farmers do not face any difficulties, all necessary amenities have been made available at the procurement centers. The Collector urged farmers to bring only high-quality paddy and warned that strict action would be taken if any fraud occurs during the weighing process.
He also instructed that machines, particularly mechanized cleaners, be installed at each center to clean the paddy and speed up the procurement process. Additionally, he directed that paddy with excess moisture should be transported immediately, and the procurement of different paddy varieties should be done separately.
Legal Metrology officials were asked to inspect the weighing instruments at all procurement centers to ensure accuracy.
The Collector was accompanied by several officials, including Srinivas and Rajender from the Civil Supplies Department, and Tahsildar, among others.
