Nagar Kurnool: Important Voter List Revision Program Announced

Nagar Kurnool District Election Officer and District Collector, Badavath Santosh, has highlighted the significance of a special voter list revision program. This program will run from August 21 to October 18 across the district. To prepare for this, the Collector held a one-day training session on Tuesday for booth-level officers (BLOs), supervisors, and revenue officials at the Integrated Office Complex.

    Ensuring Accurate Voter Registration

During the session, the Collector shared that the Nagar Kurnool district has 793 polling booths, with a total of 723,286 voters registered across the three constituencies—Nagar Kurnool, Achampet, and Kollapur. He emphasized that it is crucial for booth-level officers to ensure that individuals who turn 18 by January 1, 2025, are registered to vote.

    Guidelines for BLOs

The Collector provided clear guidelines for the voter list revision program. BLOs are instructed to conduct door-to-door surveys to verify voter details and help with new voter registrations, address changes, and corrections. He also asked BLOs to investigate households with a suspiciously high number of voters registered at a single address.

    Timeline and Supervision

The draft voter list will be published on October 29, and from that date, corrections and objections can be filed until November 28. All issues are expected to be resolved by December 24. The final voter list is scheduled for publication on January 6, 2025. The Collector stressed the importance of door-to-door surveys and noted that BLOs should work under the supervision of EROs, AEROs, and supervisors.

    Training and Responsibilities

The Collector also directed that master trainers conduct awareness sessions for BLOs at the constituency level, ensuring the survey process is thorough. BLOs were instructed to keep electoral lists, polling station maps, and VIP voter details updated. They are also required to record voter information using the BLO app.

    Collaboration with Political Parties

The Collector suggested that meetings be held with representatives of political parties to gather their input on the voter list revision process. Special attention should be given to collecting data on young voters turning 18.

    Role of BLOs

Anganwadi teachers and Panchayat Secretaries, who are currently serving as BLOs, were asked to diligently fulfill their responsibilities. The concerned departmental officials were requested to issue clear instructions to support the process.

    Training Session Participants

The training sessions also featured a PowerPoint presentation by Master Trainer Rajasekhar Rao. Additional Collector K. Seetharama Rao, Women and Child Welfare Officer Rajeswari, Collectorate AO Chandrasekhar Rao, Election Superintendent Zakir Ali, and Election Deputy Raghavender were among those who participated in the session.
