On Friday, Nagarkurnool town hosted the prestigious Chief Minister’s Cup torch rally. This event was initiated by the Telangana State Government to encourage sports among youth. The rally was warmly welcomed by District Collector Badavath Santosh at the Zilla Parishad High School.
The torch rally proceeded from Zilla Parishad High School to Little Flower High School. Many people participated in the rally, including Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Gaikwad Raghunath, around 600 students, athletes, and district officials.
Collector Santosh highlighted that the state government is committed to promoting sports. He explained that the goal of the CM Cup is to help rural athletes grow and compete at district, state, and national levels. The initiative seeks to identify and support young talent, giving them the resources they need for a brighter future.
He also mentioned that sports help improve both physical and mental health. The CM Cup aims to find talented athletes from remote areas and give them the opportunity to be recognized at the state, national, and even international levels.
The event was not just about sports but also about creating awareness. The Collector urged everyone to spread the word about the CM Cup so that more people, from both urban and rural areas, could participate. He encouraged students to excel in both academics and sports.
Many others attended the event, such as District Youth and Sports Officer Sitaram, physical education teachers, senior athletes, public representatives, and members of local sports associations.
