A cyclonic storm named Michaung is approaching Andhra Pradesh, and the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for all coastal districts in the state. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to occur along the southern coast of Andhra Pradesh for the next 48 hours, starting from Monday.
The cyclonic storm Michaung has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm and is expected to cross the coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam on Tuesday. Strong gusty winds with speeds of 120 to 150 kmph are anticipated, and precautions have been taken by deploying NDRF personnel and relocating people in low-lying areas to rehabilitation centers.
In Nellore district, the seashores have become turbulent due to the cyclonic storm, with strong waves and gusty winds blowing at a speed of 50-100 km per hour. Special teams have been formed by the marine police to ensure the safety of the seashore and fishermen have been advised not to go out to sea.
Heavy rains have also affected the Tirupati district, leading to relief activities being carried out by the police. Around 500 villagers have been relocated to safer locations due to increased water levels in ponds and lakes.
Overall, it is important for residents in these areas to stay vigilant and follow the instructions of local authorities to ensure their safety during this cyclonic storm.
