Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Sets Record in Relief Fund Assistance

The Telangana government has achieved a remarkable milestone through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), thanks to the initiative and generosity of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Over the past year, an impressive ₹830 crore was allocated to support 1.66 lakh families in need.

    A New Benchmark in Support

Officials revealed that CM Revanth Reddy’s leadership has set a new standard in providing help during emergencies, especially medical crises. In his first year in office, ₹830 crore was released from the CMRF, benefiting poor and middle-class families across the state. This figure surpasses the ₹2,400 crore spent by the previous government over a five-year period from 2018 to 2023, which averaged ₹480 crore annually.

    Assistance for Medical Emergencies

Out of the ₹830 crore disbursed this year, ₹590 crore was allocated specifically for medical assistance. Many families who required treatments not covered by Aarogyasri or faced high medical expenses turned to the CMRF for help. Public representatives played a key role in recommending cases to the government for support.

In situations where district hospitals lacked the necessary facilities, patients were referred to larger hospitals in Hyderabad. The government issued Letters of Credit (LOCs) to hospitals such as NIMS, MNJ Cancer Hospital, Niloufer, ENT, Osmania, and Gandhi hospitals to cover treatment costs. This year alone, 13,000 people received LOCs worth ₹240 crore, with a significant portion allocated for surgeries and treatments for children.

    Fighting Corruption and Ensuring Transparency

Officials also highlighted reforms introduced under CM Revanth Reddy’s administration. During the previous government’s tenure, corruption plagued the CMRF, with funds being misused through fake medical bills. However, after Revanth Reddy took office, the fund was made more transparent by transitioning applications to an online system, effectively curbing irregularities.

    Focus on Children’s Health

One of the most notable initiatives under the CMRF has been addressing congenital ENT problems in children. Many children born with hearing and speech impairments require surgeries and hearing aids within the first six years of life. Without such interventions, these children face lifelong challenges. Since these procedures are expensive and cost families several lakhs of rupees, many poor families were unable to afford them.

During his first review meeting, CM Revanth Reddy was informed about this issue and took immediate action. He declared that the government would ensure no child in Telangana would remain speechless or deaf due to lack of treatment. As a result, LOCs were provided for such surgeries. This year alone, 87 children received operations, giving them a new lease on life. Parents of these children expressed immense gratitude, calling it a “rebirth” for their children.

    A Renewed Commitment

The CMRF under Revanth Reddy continues to represent hope for countless families in Telangana. By addressing urgent medical needs and eliminating corruption, the government has demonstrated its commitment to supporting the state’s most vulnerable citizens.
