Excise, Tourism, and Cultural Affairs Minister Jupally Krishna Rao announced that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy would visit Wanaparthy on March 2. During his visit, the CM will lay the foundation for development projects worth ₹721 crore.
Speaking at a press conference, Rao was joined by Nagar Kurnool MP Mallu Ravi and legislator Thudi Megha Reddy. He mentioned that despite financial challenges caused by the previous government, the Revanth Reddy administration has been implementing welfare schemes.
Regarding the SLBC tunnel accident, Rao stated that rescue operations were in progress with the help of 11 agencies, including the Navy and NDRF. He personally entered the 11.8-km-long tunnel and described the situation inside as terrifying. He assured that the CM was closely monitoring the rescue efforts.
The minister praised MLA Megha Reddy for securing large-scale development projects in Wanaparthy. He noted that this would be the CM’s first visit to the region, where he would also launch development projects, including improvements to his former school. Over the past 14 months, Megha Reddy has secured ₹1,000 crore in funds for education, healthcare, and sports development.
Rao further explained that the government is organizing job fairs, loan fairs, and skill development programs to create employment opportunities for about 1,000 local youth. He highlighted that the CM had already facilitated ₹397 crore worth of projects in Wanaparthy in the past 14 months. On March 2, the CM will lay the foundation for several projects, including the development of Venkateshwara Swamy temple (₹1 crore), construction of a hospital (₹257 crore), Young India Integrated Residential School (₹200 crore), upgradation of ZP school and junior college (₹60 crore), an IT tower (₹22 crore), a court complex (₹81 crore), and the Rajannagar-Peddamandadi road (₹40 crore).
MP Mallu Ravi mentioned that Revanth Reddy has a strong emotional connection with Wanaparthy since he studied there. During his visit, he will attend the “Alai Balai” event at the MLA camp office, where he will reunite with his former classmates. He will also visit Parvathamma, a woman in whose house he had once lived and studied.
Market yard chairman Srinivas Goud, DCC Rajendra Prasad, and other public representatives were also present at the press conference.
