Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, on Thursday, urged opposition parties like the BRS and BJP to first understand the government’s actions before criticizing them.

While launching the family digital cards, the Chief Minister addressed the opposition’s comments on these cards. He explained that the purpose of the family digital card is to replace multiple documents, such as ration cards and passbooks, with a single card. This new card will make it easier for beneficiaries to receive welfare scheme benefits.

Regarding the opposition’s criticism of the Musi river beautification project, Revanth Reddy questioned how long the BRS and BJP would continue to play “dirty politics” over the issue. He pointed out that it was the BRS who originally came up with the idea but failed to implement it due to political reasons. Now, he said, they are trying to portray him and his government negatively.

The Chief Minister clarified that the government is not forcing anyone onto the streets. Instead, they are providing houses and Rs 25,000 in financial assistance to the people displaced from the unhygienic conditions along the Musi river. The goal, he said, is to offer these people a healthier and more dignified life. He also welcomed suggestions to further improve the lives of the poor. Additionally, he challenged the BRS to contribute Rs 500 crore to the Musi riverfront project, given that they collected Rs 1,500 crore in party funds during their regime.

Revanth Reddy also criticized opposition leaders for trying to stir up unrest among the poor, accusing them of doing so to protect their own illegal farmhouses. He made it clear that the government would treat both the rich and poor equally, and that even illegal farmhouses owned by prominent BRS leaders like KTR, Harish Rao, and others would not be spared from demolition.

Addressing the recent fast by BJP leader Eatala Rajender, Revanth Reddy pointed out that the BJP had no problem with people being displaced for the Narmada riverfront project in Ahmedabad but are making a big issue of it in Hyderabad. He suggested that instead of creating drama, Eatala and the BJP should help the state government secure funds from the Centre for a better rehabilitation package for the displaced. He encouraged Eatala to lead a delegation to Prime Minister Modi and get Rs 25,000 crore sanctioned for the Musi riverfront project.

The Chief Minister concluded by stating that the Musi project was undertaken for the future of Hyderabad and not for political gains.
