Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has emphasized that his government is dedicated to promoting sports in the state. He mentioned that steps are being taken to encourage this initiative.
The Chief Minister highlighted that efforts are being made to inspire students to consider sports as a lifelong career. This, he believes, will help in nurturing future sports talent.
Reddy was speaking at the Gachibowli Stadium during an event where he presented awards to the winners of Marathon 2024.
During his speech, he expressed his disappointment with the previous government, stating that they had neglected sports and as a result, Hyderabad could not achieve significant milestones in this area. He reassured that his government is committed to changing this and making Hyderabad a major sports hub.
The Chief Minister also promised to restore the past glory of sports in the region. He announced plans to develop Gachibowli into a sports village. Additionally, he shared that the government aims to win medals in the next Olympic Games and, to achieve this, they will establish the Young India Sports University in the upcoming academic year.
Reddy added that the university will bring in renowned international coaches and provide top-notch training to emerging athletes. He emphasized that Telangana will be promoted as a major sports destination in the country.
