Telangana CM Focuses on Boosting Tourism and Employment
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has stressed the need for a strong tourism policy to increase state revenue and create more jobs for young people. He asked officials to combine Telangana’s rich history with modern tourism plans to develop a long-term strategy.
In a high-level meeting with senior officials, the Chief Minister reviewed the state’s tourism action plan. He pointed out that despite Telangana’s great tourism potential, poor planning in the past had slowed its growth. To fix this, he directed the tourism department to collaborate with other sectors like forest, IT, electricity, health, and sports. This coordination will help ensure that all departments work together without conflicts.
To attract more investment in tourism, the government plans to offer incentives to investors, especially in semi-urban and rural areas. Revanth Reddy also suggested creating a boat house facility at the Nagarjuna Sagar backwaters and promoting Telangana as a top destination for weddings.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to improve heritage tourism. He instructed officials to enhance facilities at religious and natural sites, including temples such as Bhadrachalam, Saleshwaram, and Ramappa. He also highlighted the importance of promoting tourist spots like Mallela Theertham, Bogatha Waterfalls, Buddhist stupas, and Jain temples.
During the meeting, Revanth Reddy inquired about the Bhongir Fort ropeway project. Officials informed him that land acquisition had caused delays but was now completed, allowing the tender process to begin soon. The Chief Minister urged them to speed up the project while ensuring the fort’s historical structures remain preserved.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of adventure sports and medical tourism. He instructed officials to simplify the process for medical tourists coming to Telangana for healthcare services. He also assured that the government would increase the tourism sector’s budget to support these initiatives.
The meeting was attended by State Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Chief Minister’s Advisor Vem Narendra Reddy, Telangana Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, and other senior officials.
