Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has stressed the importance of historians in preserving the true essence of social movements. He cautioned that if the struggles and sacrifices of real heroes and martyrs are not documented, future generations might receive an incomplete understanding of history. The Chief Minister shared these thoughts while speaking at the 37th Hyderabad Book Fair, held at NTR Stadium and organized by the Hyderabad Book Fair Society. He also urged poets and artists to use their talents to reveal the truth to society.

At a seminar held at the Boyi Vijay Bharathi stage during the event, Revanth Reddy explained how history often glorifies the victories of the powerful but overlooks the contributions of those who made significant sacrifices. He cited examples like the Armed Peasant Movement and both phases of the Telangana Movement, where political leaders who gained prominence received more recognition than the true martyrs of these struggles.

“In the last decade, we’ve seen how history can be distorted,” the Chief Minister said. “In today’s digital and social media era, it is becoming harder to separate truth from falsehood. Encouraging young people to read books is essential for them to uncover the facts and understand the reality of our past.”

Revanth Reddy praised the growth of the Hyderabad Book Fair, which started in 1985 at the City Central Library and has now become a major state-level event. He described the fair as a source of inspiration for future generations and a platform for intellectuals and thinkers to come together.

The Chief Minister also addressed concerns raised by the book fair organizers. He assured them that the report submitted by Prof. Kodandaram on these issues would be reviewed, and necessary decisions would be taken as part of the government’s social responsibility.

The event saw the participation of several notable figures, including Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Ponnam Prabhakar, CM’s advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Book Fair president and poet Yakub, MLC Kodandaram, Justice Sudarshan Reddy, Prof. Rama Melkote, senior journalist Ramachandramurthy, and other prominent poets, writers, and artists.
