Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy stated on Friday that he would not reveal details about the Formula E Race case as the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is currently investigating the matter. He explained that court arguments are ongoing, and to maintain fairness in the investigation, he would wait until December 2023 to 2024 to share all relevant information.

While addressing the Assembly during discussions on the Bhu Bharati Bill, the Chief Minister spoke about the Formula E race controversy. He criticized the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) members for suddenly demanding a debate on the issue. Revanth Reddy pointed out that the topic had been under discussion for over a year across four Assembly sessions, but the opposition never previously sought a debate. “Why are they demanding it now, and why this arrogance?” he questioned. He added that the government is open to discussing the matter anywhere, including the opposition’s party office.

The CM shared that after taking office, he met with representatives of the car racing company. He revealed that the race could have cost the government Rs 600 crore if he had agreed, though only Rs 55 crore was initially discussed. “Today they want a car race, tomorrow it might be horse racing, and the next day gambling. This government will not tolerate such behavior,” he remarked. Revanth Reddy also accused the opposition of misappropriating funds from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). He alleged that the Outer Ring Road was sold off and criticized their demands for canceling agreements, stating, “How can the government cancel agreements unilaterally?”

The Chief Minister urged the Assembly Speaker to take strict action against the opposition’s behavior. Taking a jab at Finance Minister Harish Rao, he said, “We understand Harish Rao’s predicament. If he does not fight here in the House, he might face trouble at home. But you should take some whippings for the people instead of showing undue loyalty to your uncle.”

Revanth Reddy clarified that he oversees both the Home Department and the Municipal Administration Department. He emphasized that disclosing details of the Formula E Race case at this stage could influence the investigation. He further added that the Governor only approved the probe after receiving appropriate legal advice.
