    Telangana’s young athlete, Deepti Jeevanji, has been selected for the prestigious Arjuna Award for 2024. Deepti, who made India proud by winning a bronze medal at the Paralympics, was praised by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He described her achievement as a symbol of the state’s growing talent in sports.

    Under the state government’s sports policy, Deepti had earlier received a cash prize of ₹1 crore from the Chief Minister for her remarkable performance. Her coach, Nagapuri Ramesh, was also rewarded with ₹10 lakh. Additionally, Deepti was given a Group-2 level government job and 500 square yards of land in Warangal as part of her recognition.

    Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasized the importance of supporting young athletes. He expressed hope that the newly established Young India Sports University and sports complexes across the state would help nurture more talent and drive future successes in sports.

    The Chief Minister also extended his congratulations to other athletes for their achievements. This included Gukesh for Chess, Harmanpreet Singh for Hockey, Praveen Kumar for Para Athletics, and Manu Bhaker for Shooting, who were nominated for the Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. He further applauded athletes and coaches selected for the Arjuna and Dronacharya Awards in 2024 for their outstanding contributions to Indian sports.
