Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has called for a thorough investigation into the recent chaos in the Telangana Legislative Assembly. He also mentioned the possibility of releasing videos of the altercation that disrupted the session.
Minister Ponnala Srinivas strongly criticized the disorder in the assembly. Calling it “unfortunate,” he condemned the unruly behavior of some members, especially senior ones. He stressed the need to prevent such disruptions and urged the assembly to take firm action against rowdiness.
Speaker P. Sreenivas Reddy expressed similar concerns, urging members to stay focused on important matters like the Bhuharthi Act. He warned against letting personal grievances derail legislative discussions and advised members to avoid misleading the public by taking internal issues outside the assembly.
The assembly session faced a 15-minute delay due to the disruption. Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) voiced their frustration over repeated interruptions. During BJP leader Maheshwar Reddy’s speech, loud chants from BRS MLAs caused further chaos, resulting in a brief suspension of the session for 10 minutes.
Several ministers shared their thoughts on the situation. Minister T. Srinivas Yadav called for the release of video footage from the incident, while Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted the importance of focusing on public welfare and key issues, such as welfare schemes, instead of engaging in disruptive behavior.
Minister Ponnala Srinivas also clarified that the government had fulfilled its promise by revoking the controversial Dharani portal. He explained that the newly introduced Bhuharthi Act aims to provide justice to the poor and represents a significant reform effort.
Despite the disruptions, the assembly continued its discussions on critical topics, including farmer insurance policies and amendments to municipal laws. However, ongoing protests by BRS members indicated that tensions within the assembly remain high.
The Chief Minister’s decision to investigate the behavior of BRS members and potentially release video footage signals the government’s intent to address the disorder and ensure smoother legislative proceedings in the future.
