Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy promised to address the problem of pending fee reimbursements with private engineering and professional colleges in the state. He spoke at an interactive session at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU-H) on Saturday.
During the meeting, he explained the financial challenges faced by the state, which had led to a focus on welfare over development for the past decade. He acknowledged the difficulties in paying salaries and meeting AICTE norms for engineering colleges when the government had outstanding debts.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that while the state prioritized welfare and development, financial constraints had increased over time. He mentioned the introduction of Rajeev Arogya Sri and fee reimbursement schemes by the Congress government, but changing priorities had caused confusion about outstanding dues.
To address the issue, he proposed a one-time settlement scheme for unrealized fee reimbursement dues. College management could visit the secretariat with a delegation, where the Chief Minister, finance minister, and IT minister would work to resolve the problems. Additionally, the government aimed to release fee reimbursement funds on time starting from the current academic year.
