Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasized the importance of the Alai Balai festival as a way to promote Telangana’s rich culture and spread a message of unity. Speaking at the event held at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad, the CM recalled how the festival played a key role in uniting people during the Telangana movement.

He explained that the festival contributed to the formation of the Joint Action Committee (JAC), which helped gather support for the Sakala Janula Samme, a major protest during Telangana’s struggle for statehood. CM Revanth stressed that the festival brings together leaders from different political parties, showing that it goes beyond political lines to celebrate the cultural heritage of Telangana.

The Chief Minister also praised Bandaru Dattatreya, the current Governor of Haryana, for his dedication in organizing the Alai Balai festival for the past 19 years. He appreciated Dattatreya’s efforts to revive and preserve Telangana’s traditional practices through this event.

Revanth Reddy further added, “Just as the Palapitta (Indian roller bird) and Jammichettu (Prosopis tree) are symbols of Dasara, Alai Balai reminds us of Bandaru Dattatreya.” He also congratulated Bandaru Vijayalakshmi for continuing this tradition as Dattatreya’s successor.

CM Revanth concluded by highlighting the importance of preserving Telangana’s cultural identity for future generations, a responsibility shared by both government leaders and the public.
