Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has issued a strong warning to the BJP leaders, cautioning them against making disrespectful comments about revolutionary poet Gaddar. He threatened to rename the street where the BJP party office is located after Gaddar if such insults continue.
“A Union Minister was speaking nonsense,” the CM said. “I am warning the BJP that the party office address will be changed if Gaddar is insulted again. I will name the street of the party office after Gaddar.” He also reminded the BJP of what happened to the previous rulers, saying they disrespected Gaddar by making him sit outside the gate, and eventually, the BRS lost power. He warned that BJP leaders could face a similar fate.
The Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the Union government for ignoring the names suggested by the Telangana government for the prestigious Padma Awards.
“We proposed names like Chukka Ramaiah, Andesri, Jayadhir Tirumal Rao, Goreti Venkanna, and Gaddar for Padma Awards, but none of them were considered. These individuals are not Congress leaders but are respected personalities. Meanwhile, five people from the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh have received Padma Awards. We wrote a letter to the Prime Minister expressing our protest, hoping the mistake would be corrected, but there has been no response,” he said.
During Gaddar’s birth anniversary celebrations, Revanth Reddy shared his close relationship with the late revolutionary poet. He revealed that he often spoke to Gaddar during tough times in his political career over the past decade.
The Chief Minister highlighted steps taken by his government to honor Gaddar’s legacy. He announced the establishment of the “Gaddar Awards,” with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka tasked with finalizing the details. Additionally, the government is planning to build a Gaddar Memorial at Necklace Road in Hyderabad soon.
