Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy extended his congratulations to Deepthi Jeevanji from Warangal district for being selected to receive the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2024. Deepthi made the state proud by winning a bronze medal in the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
As part of Telangana’s sports policy aimed at encouraging young talent, the Chief Minister has already honored Deepthi with a cash award of ₹1 crore. Her coach, Nagpuri Rameshi, has also received ₹10 lakh in recognition of his guidance. Additionally, Deepthi has been allotted a Group-2 government job and a 500-yard plot of land in Warangal as part of the state’s support for outstanding athletes.
During the felicitation, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of promoting sports in the state. He expressed hope that Telangana’s young athletes would achieve even greater success in the future. He mentioned that the government is building the Young India Sports University and various sports complexes across the state to nurture talent and encourage participation in sports.
The Chief Minister also congratulated other athletes for their exceptional achievements. Among them were Gukesh Dommaraju (chess), Harmanpreet Singh (hockey), Praveen Kumar (para athletics), and Manu Bhaker (shooting), who were selected for the Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
In a tweet on Thursday, the Chief Minister applauded all the players and coaches who have been chosen for the Arjuna and Dronacharya Awards in 2024. He commended their outstanding performances and dedication to sports, which bring pride to the nation.
