Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has given a 60-day deadline to complete two important tasks. One is the BC caste survey, and the other is the work of the One-Man Judicial Commission on the sub-categorization of the SC (Scheduled Castes) community. This commission will prepare its report based on a recent Supreme Court verdict regarding SC categorization.
New job notifications will be issued after the commission submits its report. Revanth Reddy explained that the commission will be led by a retired High Court judge to avoid any potential legal issues. The 2011 Census will be used to determine the SC population. The commission has 60 days to finish its work and submit the report.
The Chief Minister also directed State Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to make sure all departments provide the necessary information to the commission. A meeting chaired by the CM reviewed the suggestions received by the cabinet subcommittee on SC categorization and caste regrouping in the State. All these suggestions will be given to the commission for consideration. Additionally, Revanth Reddy instructed officials to set up visits for the commission to the 10 former districts, one district per day, to hear appeals and complaints directly from the public.
In response to a request from BC Commission Chairman Niranjan, who pointed out that the State lacks the resources to conduct the BC caste survey, the CM said the State Planning Department would take on the responsibility. A senior IAS officer will be appointed to coordinate between the BC Commission and the Planning Department. The CM has directed officials to complete the socio-economic survey within the 60-day deadline, and the final report must be submitted by December 9 this year. Local body elections will be held soon after the survey is completed, the CM added.
