Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has raised concerns about whether the Musi rejuvenation project is being used by BRS leaders to protect their illegal farmhouses. He expressed these views during the 34th Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra Commemoration Day event held at Charminar on Saturday.
Revanth Reddy accused some individuals of discharging sewage from their farmhouses into the Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs, which supply drinking water to the city. He claimed that wastewater from bathrooms is being released into these water bodies, endangering the water supply. “We shall not keep quiet until this is stopped,” he firmly stated.
The Chief Minister also revealed that the government is considering calling an all-party meeting to look into the matter. They may create a fact-finding committee to determine if the farmhouses owned by BRS leaders K T Rama Rao and T Harish Rao are illegal. If proven illegal, Revanth Reddy assured that these structures would be demolished.
In response to BRS leaders’ claims that bulldozers would have to run over them before demolishing any structures, Revanth Reddy sarcastically offered to send the machines whenever the leaders are ready to lie on the ground.
He further accused the BRS leaders of protecting their luxurious farmhouses under the guise of opposition. Revanth alleged that K T Rama Rao owns a farmhouse in Janwada, built for Rs 100 crore and spread over 50 acres. He asserted that they could not tolerate seeing the poor benefit from government schemes.
Lastly, Revanth Reddy dismissed challenges made by KTR from his farmhouse in Aziz Nagar. He stated that he only accepts challenges from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and not from those who “carry the slippers of the master.”
