Clash in Gajwel town of Telangana’s Siddipet district was caused by an incident where a man was assaulted for urinating near a Shivaji statue. The man, who was drunk, was then paraded naked. This led to tension between different groups, resulting in one person getting injured. Police assured that action will be taken against those involved. As a result of the incident, curfew was imposed in the town and some organizations called for a shutdown to protest and demand justice. The local police were criticized for not intervening, and an inquiry and security for the minority community were demanded. The Gajwel Assembly constituency is represented by Telangana’s Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
