Greater Warangal has been chosen to participate in the CITIIS 2.0 challenge, which allows them to receive Rs 135 crore under the Smart Cities Mission. This program provides financial and technical support for projects focused on climate resilience, adaptation, and mitigation.
Warangal is one of 84 cities that applied for the challenge. They were selected based on their documentation of ongoing projects as part of the Smart Cities Mission. On February 8, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs will hold a jury meeting in Delhi to choose the final 18 cities eligible for funding.
The municipal commissioner, Shaik Rizwan Basha, will attend the jury meeting and present a slideshow highlighting the developmental works done under the Smart Cities Mission.
Mayor Gundu Sudharani of Greater Warangal expressed joy over this opportunity. She believes it shows that Warangal, already known as a fast-moving city, is on its way to becoming an iconic city.
