Hyderabad experienced heavy rainfall and strong winds on Wednesday, causing waterlogging and traffic jams. The rain started in the eastern part of the city and then spread across different areas, leading to long traffic delays. In the west zone, traffic moved slowly due to the high number of vehicles on the road.
Many areas in the city, including Uppal, L B Nagar, Malakpet, and Nampally, faced waterlogging issues. Motorists had difficulty navigating flooded roads, with some areas having water levels up to four feet high. Vehicles parked outside shops were washed away by the heavy flow of water.
Traffic jams were also reported in Mehdipatnam, Humayun Nagar, NMDC, and Masab Tank due to the rainfall. Construction activity in certain areas further affected traffic movement. The Telangana State Development Planning Society recorded significant rainfall in different parts of the city.
The India Meteorological Department predicted thunderstorms for the next four days in all zones of Hyderabad. A yellow alert was issued for thunderstorms and lightning. GHMC’s Disaster Response Force teams worked to clear water stagnation and provided assistance to commuters in need.
