Students from various schools in Hyderabad showcased their innovative ideas and creations at the “Future Inventors Fair” (FIF) hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad. 22 teams were invited to showcase their projects, which included a smart dustbin, an automated drainage cleaner, a disabled and elderly-friendly walking stick, and a project aimed at reducing the overuse of plastic bags. The winners of the fair were announced, with the first prize going to a solar-cum-hand dish washer designed by ZPHS Isaipet. The fair aims to promote innovation among school children and support young innovators.
Prof. B S Murthy, Director of IIT Hyderabad, explained that the institute believes in developing job creators instead of job seekers. He said that the FIF is one step towards making India self-reliant, and the institute plans to continue hosting the fair annually to support young innovators. The fair was unique in that it showcased projects aimed at solving real-world problems.
The young innovators at the FIF shared their projects with The Hans India. One innovator, Rayyan from Excellent Star High School, shared his project on an auto light mechanism at culverts, which aims to prevent accidents on roads caused by high beam lights. Another team of innovators from Pallavi Model School, Boduppal, shared their project on a “Smart Drainage Indicator” that helps prevent accidents caused by the overflow of water and opening of manhole lids during the rainy season.
The FIF showcased various innovative projects aimed at solving real-world problems faced by society. The winners of the fair were announced, with ZPHS Isaipet taking first prize for their solar-cum-hand dish washer.
