    MeeSeva centres in Hyderabad are experiencing a rush of people due to confusion surrounding the issuance of new ration cards and the availability of benefits from new government schemes. Local residents have been waiting in long queues at these centres, seeking information on how to apply for new ration cards and when the registration process will begin.

    Social media sites have been reporting that applications for new ration cards will be accepted starting from December 28th. However, MeeSeva centre operators state that they have not received any information from the government regarding the start of the process. This lack of clarity has caused people to flock to the centres, creating a tedious situation for the operators.

    Many individuals, like Sudha and Seema Rao, who have been eagerly waiting for the government to initiate the process of issuing ration cards, are frustrated with the lack of clear information. This confusion has also allowed middlemen to take advantage of the situation.

    S Q Masood, a social activist, highlights that long queues can be seen not only at the ‘PrajaPalana’ camps but also at banks, Aadhaar centres, MeeSeva centres, and LPG distributors. He urges the government to start issuing new ration card applications promptly to help beneficiaries access the Public Distribution System (PDS) benefits.

    A senior officer from the Civil Supplies department acknowledges that there have been numerous inquiries about the issuance of ration card applications in the past two days. However, the government has not yet issued any orders regarding the acceptance of these applications.
