Residents of Chityala village in Wanaparthy mandal are strongly opposing the proposed merger of their village with Wanaparthy Municipality.

On Tuesday, village leader Raghupathi Rao led a group of villagers to meet Wanaparthy MLA Tudi Megha Reddy. They submitted a petition, urging her to stop the merger.

The MLA responded positively to their concerns. She assured the villagers that a Gram Sabha (village meeting) would be held to gather their opinions. She also mentioned that she had advised the District Collector to make a decision based on what the villagers want.

The villagers believe that joining the municipality would negatively affect their local governance and development. They are firm in their demand to remain independent.
