Hyderabad: Authorities in Hyderabad’s Old City have seized Chinese manja worth approximately ₹2 crore in a large-scale operation. The banned material was found in kite shops during the crackdown, which aimed to curb its illegal sale.
A joint task force, comprising police and special teams, conducted extensive raids across the area. Their efforts are part of an ongoing initiative to stop the sale of Chinese manja, which is considered highly dangerous for both humans and animals. During the raids, several shop owners and vendors caught selling the illegal thread were arrested.
Chinese manja, made from synthetic materials coated with glass, is strictly banned due to its hazardous nature. The sharp thread can cause serious injuries and, in some cases, even fatalities. Authorities have urged the public to report any instances of its sale or use to help ensure safety in the community.
The police emphasized their commitment to enforcing the ban, especially during the kite-flying season. They encouraged citizens to cooperate in preventing the use of this harmful material to protect lives and promote public well-being.
