State Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari has instructed District Collectors to prepare for the “Swatchadanam – Pachhadanam” (Cleanliness and Greenery) programme. This event will take place from August 5 to 9 across the State. It aims to address civic problems in both rural and urban areas.
The Chief Secretary held a video conference with all the Collectors on Thursday to discuss the program. She emphasized that saplings should not only be planted but also cared for to ensure their survival.
In addition to planting trees, authorities should focus on controlling the mosquito population, preventing infectious diseases, maintaining water conservation pits, and raising awareness about potholes.
The Chief Secretary mentioned that the five-day program will have special activities planned for each day. Details of these activities have already been shared with the Collectors. On August 5, rallies involving community members and various competitions for students will be organized.
Secretary of the Forest Department, Ahmed Nadeem, Secretary of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Lokesh Kumar, Panchayat Raj Rural Development Commissioner, Anita Ramachandran, HMDA Commissioner, Sarfraz Ahmed, and other officials participated in the meeting.
