The Chief Secretary of Telangana, Santhi Kumari, has announced that the state’s health standards have significantly improved due to the medical and health schemes initiated by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. At a meeting held at BRKR Bhavan to review the medical and health department, Kumari cited initiatives such as Kanti Velugu, KCR Kit, KCR nutrition kit, and comprehensive health check-ups for women journalists as having contributed to the improvement of the health and living standards of the people. Kumari stated that 13,28,808 people have received KCR kits in Telangana, with 29.10 lakh people benefiting from them. Institutional deliveries have also increased since the launch of these kits, with 95% of deliveries now taking place in institutions. The KCR Nutrition Kit, which was introduced experimentally in nine districts of Telangana to provide nutritious food to pregnant and lactating women, has also been successful in decreasing the number of maternal and child deaths. Plans are underway to extend the scheme to all districts soon. Additionally, Telangana Diagnostics has conducted about 8.90 crore tests on 49 lakh people across Hyderabad and 22 other districts. In total, 1.4 crore people have undergone medical examinations through 352 Basthi Davakhanas, with another 46 to be opened soon. As part of a women’s health program launched on International Women’s Day, master health checkups will be conducted for women journalists in the state, with 56 types of parameters and 12 tests to be conducted.
