Chief Secretary Instructs District Commissioners to Address Spread of Seasonal Fevers

In Hyderabad, there has been a rise in seasonal fevers, and Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari has taken action to address the situation. She recently held a video conference to review the efforts being made to prevent the spread of viral and vector-borne diseases.

During the meeting, Santhi Kumari instructed District Collectors to be vigilant in preventing diseases like dengue and chikungunya. She emphasized the importance of visiting schools, hostels, and residential institutions. Staff in these places need to be informed about taking preventive measures and how to respond effectively if students fall ill.

She also stressed the importance of checking the diet and sanitation in these institutions. Collectors were urged to visit all Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and ensure that government hospitals provide high-quality services.

Santhi Kumari assured that there are enough testing kits and medicines available. She highlighted the significance of the Friday Dry Day campaign and the need to activate rapid response teams. An outreach campaign should also be conducted to educate people on what to do and avoid.

Furthermore, she suggested organizing a meeting with private hospitals to discuss fair pricing for medicines and treatments. The goal is to prevent unnecessary hospitalizations and ensure that private hospitals don’t exploit people.
