Hyderabad: Leaders Gather for Former Governor’s Autobiography Launch
A special event took place in Hyderabad on Sunday morning, bringing together leaders from three major political parties — Congress, BJP, and BRS — alongside the Governors of Haryana and Odisha. The occasion was the release of “UNIKA,” the autobiography of former Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao. The gathering resembled the spirit of Alai Balai, a festival known for fostering camaraderie among diverse groups.
During the event, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made an appeal to all leaders to support his government’s efforts to advance Telangana’s development. He acknowledged the different goals and ideologies of various political parties but stressed the importance of unity for the state’s progress. “I ask Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar and BRS leader Vinod Kumar to work together with the government for Telangana’s growth,” he said.
The Chief Minister emphasized that he holds no personal differences with any leader and expressed his openness to meeting anyone for suggestions and cooperation. He urged the Union Minister to discuss important projects, such as the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and the proposed Regional Ring Rail, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These projects, he explained, are essential for transforming Hyderabad into a global city. He also requested support for infrastructure projects like the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail.
Revanth Reddy further appealed to the Union government to allocate a dry port for Telangana and speed up the completion of the Kazipet Railway Coach Factory. Highlighting the state’s ambitions, he said, “Telangana is not competing with Amaravati but with global cities like New York and Tokyo. To achieve this, we need approvals for expanding Hyderabad’s Metro Rail.”
The Chief Minister pointed out that Prime Minister Modi has supported metro rail development in Tamil Nadu and Bengaluru, expressing hope that the Union Cabinet would soon approve the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail. He also raised concerns about the declining relevance of universities and urged for greater student engagement in campus politics. Recalling the key role students played in the Telangana statehood movement, he called for the revival of ideological student politics, stating, “Students grounded in party ideologies are more likely to stay loyal to political organizations.”
Revanth Reddy concluded by emphasizing the need for strong ideological foundations in politics. He attributed the trend of political defections to a lack of commitment to party values and stressed that reviving student involvement in politics is essential for the future.
