    Hyderabad: The Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, will officially open a special three-day event called the Global South Conference on Infection Prevention, Control, and Antimicrobial Stewardship (G-SPARC). During the event, he will also launch the state’s plan to address Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).

    More than 1,600 delegates are expected to attend the conference, where they will discuss important topics related to infection control and preventing the spread of drug-resistant bacteria.

    The conference will take place at Shilpakala Vedika in Hitech City, Madhapur, from October 3rd to 5th. Organizers shared that only six states in India currently have an AMR plan, but after this event, Telangana will become the seventh state to implement one.

    The main goal of the conference is to bring together experts and stakeholders from the Global South, which includes countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and South America. These participants will work together to improve policies, research, and solutions for infection prevention, antimicrobial resistance, water sanitation, and pandemic preparedness.

    Damodar Rajanarsimha, the Minister for Health and Family Welfare, will also attend the event as the guest of honour.
